The effects of repeated systemic administration of 3,4-Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) on the expression of male sexual behavior in sexually vigorous male rats.
Actions Taken :
Treatment consisted of subcutaneous injections of 3,4-Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (40 mg/kg) or saline (1 ml/kg) every 12 hours for 4 consecutive days. In addition, neurochemical assessments of brain 5-HT and 5-HIAA depletion following repeated 3,4-Methylenedioxymethamphetamine treatment were also conducted using reverse phase liquid chromatography.

Observed Results :
This study revealed that repeated systemic administration of MDMA to sexually vigorous male rats produced a transient disruption of the expression of male copulatory behavior. In addition, in MDMA-treated males that did display copulatory behavior, both the ejaculation latency and postejaculatory interval were dramatically lengthened when compared to saline injected controls. Surprisingly, one week after the first behavioral test, copulatory behavior in MDMA treated rats appeared unaffected despite a marked depletion of 5-HT and 5-HIAA content in the striatum, and hippocampus.

Conclusion :
Retest specimans ( they seem to like it ).

It's a mathematical formula that, based on an animal's size, attempts to predict how toxic a given drug will be based on toxicity data from other ( smaller or larger ) animals. It's a very widely used approach, and in many cases works well. Doctors use the same sort of formula to estimate how much of an adult dosage of a drug to give to children/infants. But...it's not perfect. For interspecies scaling to work, the mechanism by which the drug is toxic must be a simple one. Throw more than one factor into the pot, and things tend to break down.

3,4-Methylenedioxymethamphetamine's mechanism of neurotoxicity is not a simple one. The animal toxicity data is also based on injecting animals with MDMA (as much as 50.0 mg/kg, when a homo sapien would be off their tits at about 2.0 mg/kg.) Also, injecting a drug bypasses the digestive tract and delivers the drug into the bloodstream much more quickly than taking a drug orally would. As a result, an animal that gets an injection is exposed to much higher peak concentrations of the drug. ( In fact, research has found that injecting MDMA could as much as triple its neurotoxicity over oral dosing ( depending on brain region) ).
Bearing this in mind we salute these brave young rodents boldly expanding the vital boundaries of the biological and chemical sciences.
